Things to Consider:
Date, Budget, and Group Size
There are a number of things to consider when planning your event. At the top of the list would be your event date, group size, and budget.
Are you trying to visit during harvest season to see the grapes at their peak of ripeness? Do you prefer to visit in the summer to enjoy the warm weather and bustling local events? Are you looking for the perfect place to spend the Holidays?
Visiting post- harvest in the winter months will be more affordable than Summer and Harvest Season in terms of flights and lodging. Wineries and restaurants that do not typically take large groups (Groups over 6 guests) will have more availability to make exceptions.
Event Theme
It’s important to have a theme in mind when planning to ensure your event meets your needs.
Common themes in Wine Country include, but are not limited to, Education and History, Relaxation, High-end, Art-focused, and Team Building.
For example, if you are looking for Relaxation, your planner may focus on planning your event around the hot springs, spas, laid back winery locations, and dining with ambiance versus if you were interested in Education and History your planner might focus on locations with a strong background, food pairings, museums, classes, and tours.
Live Music and Permits
Depending on the nature of your event, the county may need you to obtain permits or approvals to ensure a well-planned, safe event. Some examples of required Permits include encroachment, zoning, food, fireworks & special effects, tents, vendor & cooking booths, and wastewater disposal.
Things to consider when planning events in Wine Country is that there are special events which require permits. These Special Events include Concerts, Corporate events, Weddings/ Private Parties, Camping, and Galas/ Fundraisers.
